SALT's new Beginner Scuba Courses - ECO Diver & Advanced Eco-Diver

If you know anything about SALT you already know we are strongly committed to the vitality of our seas & reefs. When we teach, we are sharing our passion for marine conservation as much as we are for scuba, which is why we’ve revamped our Beginner and Advanced Certification courses to include more environmental and conservation based information as well as a buoyancy clinic to send you off into the world of diving like an eco-warrior!

Whats different in the Beginner Certification?

We’ve added the curriculum for Project AWARE Specialty, as well as Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty to the standard PADI Open Water Course. This adds a little at home study and a little more time in the classroom, but most of all it means you complete your first course with 3 certifications! You will get an in depth look at Project AWARE, and learn about the importance of being an environmentally responsible / eco-friendly diver no matter where you are diving. You will also spend extra time working on weighting, trim and neutral buoyancy skills with an instructor to perfect your buoyancy!

What is different about the Advanced Certification?

Whether or not you took the Beginner Eco-Diver course this Advanced Eco-Diver certification is specifically designed to develop you further into a critically thinking environmentally friendly diver. In addition to the required Deep and Navigation Dives, participants who have already completed our Eco-Diver course will complete a Dive Against Debris, Coral Watch Coral Health Survey and Coral Reef Conservation. Divers who have not completed the Beginner Eco-Diver Course will complete Peak Performance Buoyancy, Dive Against Debris & Coral Health Watch in addition to the required (deep and navigation) dives. Either way you will complete the PADI Advanced Certification course having also earned the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty, Dive Against Debris Specialty, AND the Coral Watch Specialty!

If you already have your Advanced Certification but are looking to become a more eco-friendly diver, sign up for our Eco-Master course, which includes the Project AWARE Specialty, Coral Reef Conservation Specialty, Dive Against Debris, Coral Watch, Peak Performance Buoyancy. If you are a rescue diver this package can count towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver certification (not to be confused with the Pro-Level of Divemaster). This package allows you to hone in on your environmentally friendly skills, learn new skills and participate in citizen science.
