AWARE Week Details

Feels like the first annual AWARE Week was just yesterday! SALT had barely opened it’s doors but we weren’t going to miss the opportunity to GO BIG for Project AWARE, PADI and of course OUR OCEAN.

Last year we invited our marine biologist friends from Grenada & Barbados to join us in cleaning the beach & the reefs, teaching about our local corals, sea grasses and a multitude of conservation initiatives. We shared with them our closed loop cleanup complete with plastic shredding right on the grassy area across from where our container shop now stands!

We had so much fun introducing divers and non divers alike to the tenets of Project AWARE, marine conservation specialties and diving with new people!

This year we are excited to announce we’ve got 4 days of special events lined up for AWARE Week 2019. We will kick off the week with one of our Movie Nights, following it up with a day dedicated to Corals, our September SplashDay happens to fall during aware week so its the perfect opportunity for people to sign up for Discover Scuba Diving and try breathing underwater for the first time! Certified Divers will have 2 days of Dive Against Debris opportunities , and a Hike against Debris for our non divers! We will be finishing everything off with a BBQ for our participants after the last cleanup!
